Privacy Policy

1. Scope

This policy applies to information processed by the OZY Translator Discord application. It does not replace Discord's own privacy policy or the privacy policies of third-party translation and hosting providers.

2. Information OZY Translator May Process

Depending on server configuration and the feature being used, OZY Translator may process:

• Discord user IDs and display information needed to attribute translated messages
• Discord server, category, and channel IDs
• Message IDs
• Message text in channels configured for translation
• Replies or referenced message content when required for translation
• Source and destination language information
• Attachments and attachment metadata when media relay is enabled
• Translation-channel configuration and operational settings
• Technical error, rate-limit, and service-status information needed to operate and secure the bot

3. Why We Process This Information

Information is processed only as reasonably necessary to:

• Translate messages between configured language channels
• Deliver translated messages through Discord
• Keep translated copies associated with their original messages for edit/delete propagation
• Preserve protected items such as URLs, Discord mentions, timestamps, commands, emoji, code, and Total Battle coordinates when possible
• Relay supported attachments
• Apply rate limits, detect failures, and maintain service reliability
• Diagnose technical problems and protect the service from abuse

4. Translation Provider

OZY Translator currently uses an automated Google translation backend through the deep-translator library. Message text requiring translation is transmitted to that external translation service for processing.

The external translation service is operated independently and may process information under its own terms and privacy practices. OZY Translator does not control the provider's infrastructure, retention practices, or availability.

5. Discord

OZY Translator operates on Discord and receives information that Discord makes available to the bot according to the permissions granted by the server and the features being used.

Discord independently processes information under its own terms and privacy policy. Removing OZY Translator from a server does not delete information retained by Discord itself.

6. Message Storage and Message Mapping

OZY Translator is designed to process message content for translation rather than maintain a permanent archive of message bodies.

For edit and delete synchronization, the bot may maintain a local SQLite mapping between original Discord message IDs and translated Discord message IDs. This mapping stores identifiers needed for message lifecycle correlation rather than a long-term copy of translated message text.

Discord itself retains the messages according to Discord's systems and the actions of users and server administrators.

7. Hosting and Ephemeral State

OZY Translator may be hosted on Render or another infrastructure provider. Local application state may be ephemeral depending on the hosting configuration.

If local message-ID mapping is lost during a restart, redeployment, or storage reset, translation can continue, but the bot may no longer be able to correlate an older translated message with its original for later edits or deletions.

8. Attachments

When attachment relay is enabled, OZY Translator may retrieve and re-upload supported attachments within configured size limits so that translated channels receive the relevant media.

Attachments may therefore pass through the bot's runtime and hosting infrastructure as part of message delivery. OZY Translator is not intended to serve as permanent attachment storage.

9. Data Sharing

OZY Translator does not sell personal information to advertisers or data brokers.

Information may be processed by service providers only as necessary to operate the application, including:

• Discord - messaging, identity, channels, webhooks, and application interactions
• Translation provider - message text that requires automated translation
• Hosting provider - runtime infrastructure and application operations

Information may also be disclosed when required by applicable law or when reasonably necessary to protect the security, rights, or integrity of OZY Translator, its users, or third parties.

10. Retention

OZY Translator does not intentionally maintain a permanent archive of translated message content in its own application database.

Operational message-ID mappings may remain for as long as the local application state persists or until the relevant mapping is removed. Hosting resets may remove these mappings earlier.

Discord and external translation providers may retain information independently according to their own policies. Their retention practices are outside OZY Translator's direct control.

11. Message Edits and Deletions

When the required message-ID mapping is still available, OZY Translator may propagate edits or deletions from an original message to its translated copies.

If the mapping has been lost because of a storage reset, restart, redeployment, or other technical event, automatic correlation may no longer be possible for messages translated before that event.

12. Security

Reasonable technical and operational measures are used to reduce unauthorized access and accidental data disclosure. These measures include limiting bot permissions, validating configured Discord destinations, disabling unwanted mention processing in translated webhook posts, and separating operational secrets from public content.

No online service can guarantee absolute security.

13. Children

OZY Translator is intended for use through Discord and is not independently directed to children. Users must satisfy Discord's age and eligibility requirements applicable in their jurisdiction.

14. Your Choices

Users and Discord server administrators can limit processing by not submitting content to translation-enabled channels, disabling translation features, changing server permissions, or removing OZY Translator from the server.

For questions or requests concerning information controlled directly by OZY Translator, contact us using the address below. Requests concerning data controlled by Discord or a translation provider may need to be directed to that provider.

15. International Processing

Discord, hosting providers, and translation providers may operate infrastructure in multiple countries. Information processed through OZY Translator may therefore be transferred or processed outside the user's country of residence, subject to the relevant provider's practices and applicable law.

16. Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated when OZY Translator's functionality, translation providers, hosting architecture, security practices, or legal requirements change.

The latest version will be published at this URL. The Last updated date at the top indicates when the policy was most recently revised.
